Contribution Of Navodaya To The Society
Since Independence up to 1986, much of lip services have gone into the composition of a proper Education Policy for India. Commissions were setup, recommendations were received and the result of implementation in the field of Education failed to bring about the desired changes in the Indian society in the post independence era. Navodaya Vidyalaya started as an attempt to provide education a new direction in bringing the aspired social changes needed from time to time. Since its inception, Navodaya Vidyalaya are engaged in their endless efforts of effecting a social change in the country

BRIDGE UP THE GAP BETWEEN URBAN AND RURAL
Navodaya Vidyalaya, started in 1986 under the New Education Policy was able to bridge the gap between Rural and Urban by concentrating on the 60 seats (75%) Rural area in selection of students at Class VI level. The Rural talents which remained unattended to previously got an opportunity to prepare and participate in the common stream of competition with the urban folk. Thus the gap which had grown beyond imagination between Rural and Urban was narrowed down by Navodaya.
LITERACY RATE & SOCIO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Navodaya helped a lot in gearing up the literacy rate accompanied by a socio economic development, especially in the belt of Rural areas.
UNITY IN SOCIETY
Previously the various areas in Rural regions were disintegrated on the basis of language, religion and geographical location. Navodaya has served in checking in this integration of society by selecting students from the whole district and providing them equal opportunities of learning in its residential setup.
REACHING TO REMOTE
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya selection test for admission of students for class VI level is organized at block level which make it convenient for the people of remote areas to reach the exam centre without much difficulty. It is like the water reaching the thirst and not the vise versa. Competitions like RI Meet, NI Meet etc. conducted at District, State and National level undoubtedly refresh the memory of old Indian culture in the students.

Since the students are admitted at Class VI level and continue upto XII- a long span of 7 years in navodaya they spend. These formative years of Adolescence undergo a lot of transformation for every child. The basic human values like self confidence, self reliance, honesty, industriousness, truthfulness, fellow feeling, patriotism, respect of others etc. are induced in the learners at right time which ensures a prolonged presence of the above qualities in the students personalities. The Migration policy at Class IX level (when the child is at 13-14 age) not only helps in promoting National Integration but also successfully establishes love and respect for others language and culture. The migration policy has been working successfully since inception till today. Navodaya also conducts and organizes numerous programmes and workshops to inculcate positive personality traits in the students and prepare them to be a good social being with a composite personality.

Affiliated to CBSE New Delhi, Navodaya Vidyalaya is the pioneer of a consistently a good performance at both X & XII CBSE Exam every year almost heading the list of highest pass percentage and individual scoring. It has contributed greatly to CBSE Board as a leading institution to induce and implement any new policy related to curriculum or exam such as CCE. All the new policies (long term or short term) are successfully implemented, published and propagated by navodaya which has served as a main agency or the gateway of CBSE for any enriched pedagogic progress.

The quality of teachers who are recruited through Pre-lim., main and vivo wise is un questionable. for the training coursed, workshop, orientations, organized by NVS at various level not only update the staff with the knowledge of modern mythologies but also help them grow continuously in professional efficiency and build them into a multi skilled facilitators. Projects under Intel , Microsoft, Shiksha, ICT, Samsung Smart Class etc. have enhance the standard of teaching and learning undoubtedly.

Unlike other educational institution which are pompous in show but poor in worth, Navodaya students inculcate basic human values like self confidence, self dependants, regards for elders, fellow feeling, patriotism , truthfulness, industriousness, honesty, leadership and morality in the process of their learning in Navodaya during long seven years. This is proved by the JNV product working at various places in different capacities shouldering countless high responsibilities in the country engaged in an endeavour of rebuilding the Nation. This moral development in the students with an eve ready willing to serve the nation in the distinctive feature which makes Navodaya so special an institution serving the purpose of character building in education.
ENLARGING LEARNING EXPERIENCE
The schemes like Ukery, Training under Dakshana foundation, Visit to Japan, Korea and other foreign countries introduce in Navodaya are some of the bright example of making education in Navodaya “A global experience.” Both the students and teachers are benefited by such programme, who in turm, spread the massage of social, cultural and economic awareness in the people of their localities. Thus a single student of Navodaya, in any block (mostly Rural areas) serves light post to kindle socio, economics and cultural awareness in the general public. It is not a question of self development only. The responsibility of a desirable social change is always pronounced in the activities and attitudes of Navodaya students who have sensitizes themselves as global citizens.
ALL-ROUND DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS
Navodaya does not aim at making the students knowledge crazy or money mongers. It on the other hand tries to bring in them an all round development and provide them the basic opportunities to bloom in to a good social being with a sound moral character.
CONCLUSION
Needless to say Navodaya has contributed to the society greatly since 1987 in the changing scenario of Indian education and culture. To sum up, Navodaya bridges up the gap between urban and Rural, helped in promoting National Integration, successfully produces desirable social being, preserves core culture of India, makes the students ever inquisitive, tempering them with a strong sense of patriotism and an ever ready soldier ready for service with a global awareness. Navodaya is a novel concept by the Govt. of India in its attempt to combine both education and culture into a single venture to liberate the mind of man for the service of the mankind. The reshuffled voice of the elites and the un-educated from all quarters of the society, echo with the desire of an education euphoria envisaged in the New Education Policy 1986.
